Valentine's Day is coming so I decided to make some small gifts for my son's teachers. I found these little hearts at Bella Crochet blog and I added tassels to it.

Here's another beautiful mini heart doily or hanging decoration for your doors. You can find the pattern at DROPS Design website. There are so many beautiful patterns on this site but it always turns me off the way their charts are illustrated. They are not using the standard symbols.

And here's some update on my preemie hats projects for donation. I already knit 15 hats and I decided it's time to crochet the other 15 hats. You can download for free the pattern at Ravelry.

Are you making something for this upcoming Valentine's Day? If you do, I would love to see it.

Hey crochet friends, I would like to grab this opportunity to brag about how talented my husband is! He is making these beautiful ergonomic crochet hooks! The handles are made of resin blanks that he hand-turned and he is attaching it to crochet hooks that are either Susan Bates or Boye brand. We are selling this in my Etsy shop: www.anabelletracy.etsy.com 😊

He is also making ergonomic and interchangeable crochet hook set! This one is the most popular design. Isn't it beautiful! The set includes the sizes C/2 (2.75 mm), D/3 (3.25 mm), E/4 (3.5 mm), F/5 (3.75 mm), G/6 (4.00 mm), and H/8 (5.00 mm). Please check out our Etsy shop: www.anabelletracy.etsy.com for other designs and more information. Thank you!

Other than making snowflakes, I have several projects that I made the past few weeks as well. My other goal this year is to crochet or knit 30 preemie hats to donate on my 30th birthday in May. So far, I have 10 and starting my 11th hat.

I also made a new set of slippers for myself. I made the same style of slipper two years ago and I finally have worn the old one out after wearing them almost every day. This pattern is called My Heart & Sole and design by Kinga Erdem of My Hobby is Crochet.

And here is my first amigurumi for this year, a very cute Unicorn Pudgy Pal Stuffed Toy! This is designed by Joni Memmott of Briabby Designs. I'm lucky to be one of her regular pattern testers and to see first her latest designs!

Snowflakes Challenge: Week 2

crochetreasures, 2018 CAL, 100 Free Crochet Snowflakes Patterns, Free YouTube Video Tutorials

One of the frequently asked questions is how to block snowflakes and what kind of stiffener to use. Clyndia D. Mathews, author of Crochet Memories made an excellent list of stiffeners from commercial brands to homemade solutions along with recipes, opinions, and expected results for each!

So, how do I block my snowflakes? I use a water-glue (Elmer's All Purpose Glue) solution as the stiffener.  I dip my snowflakes in the solution then squeeze the excess. I use an empty pizza box as my blocking board. My awesome brother made a blocking template for me! I tape it down on my pizza box, on both sides, then wrap it with kitchen plastic wrap. And pin my snowflakes using rust proof T-pins. I'm an impatient person, I blow dry my snowflakes to dry it quickly.

Blocking Template

You can download the blocking template from the files section of my Facebook group crochetreasures.

Snowflakes Challenge: Week 1

How to Crochet Snowflakes, Free Written Patterns And Video Tutorials

Two years ago, I set a very ambitious goal of crocheting 365 snowflakes. Unfortunately, that goal was not achievable so I adjusted it to make 100. But life happens, we moved, and I packed all my things. I ended up with 87 snowflakes. This is the reason why my "100 Snowflakes" blog post has missing 13 pictures, I didn't make it to 100.

This year I will again attempt to make 100 snowflakes, and not that all. I will make a video tutorial for each of them! I will upload the video tutorials every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday on my YouTube channel and try to update this blog every Saturday with a summary of the week's work.

If you'd like to work with me to meet this goal, just subscribe to my YouTube channel and be sure to hit the bell icon when you subscribe. That will get you a notification every time I post a new tutorial.

With this said, I'd like to say thank you to Mrs. Deborah Atkinson at http://www.snowcatcher.net for allowing me to use her patterns to make the videos.

Here are the three complete snowflakes for week one!

This finished project is made and photographed by Clara Gipson.
She used a crochet hook in size L (8.00 mm), consumed almost 3 skeins of white yarns and 2 skeins of pink yarns. She made her afghan by following the 50x50 graph and used the diagonal box stitch/ corner to corner technique, the finished project measures 55” x 55”.
