10 Free Crochet Fingerless Mitts Patterns

Owl Mitts

Hi there! I just want to share my fingerless mitts that I just finished. This adorable fingerless owl mitts are designed by Erika Ward and free to download at Ravelry. I'm rating this pattern as intermediate. I had hard time understanding the written pattern but with the help of video tutorial by Kim Guzman I made it with ease. This pattern is worked up so fast, it needs only a few yards of yarn and a good project to practice cable stitches as well. I'm sure I will make a pair or two again in the future!

10 Free Crochet Pincushion Patterns

free crochet pattern pincushions

Trivia!

Q: Why are pincushions frequently made to resemble tomatoes with attached strawberry?

A: During Victorian Era, placing a tomato on the mantel of a new house guaranteed prosperity and repelled evil spirits. If tomatoes were out of season, families improvised by using a round ball of red fabric filled with sand or sawdust. The good-luck symbol also served a practical purpose- a place to store pins or needles. Typically, the tomato is filled with wool roving to prevent rust, and the strawberry is filled with an abrasive to clean and sharpen pins.

10 Free Crochet Christmas Stocking Patterns

free crochet pattern Christmas stockings

I want to share these mini Christmas stockings that I made last year (2013). I made 25 pieces of this and gave away to my son's classmates as Christmas presents. We put mini presents inside too like nail polish, lip balm, hair clips, hot wheel cars, mini sharpies, sticky notes and more. And since I have tons of buttons- I love to buy buttons even I don't use it much, I added it to stockings for additional decoration. Flower buttons for the girls and letter buttons for the boys. This is great project to use up all your scarp yarns!

These loveys that I made a few months ago are finally heading to their new home! They are ready to ship tomorrow together with some Santa hats I made. One of my favorite crochet designer and blogger, Kathy Lashley, has developed a group called Elk Studio- From The Heart. In this group, she invites women who are willing to donate things they made to various charitable groups and they also conduct monthly meetings with each charity. This month - July - is led by Maria Bittner of Pattern Paradise, the group will collect donations for Project Sweet Peas.  The types of projects are a preemie and infant hats, memory blankets and seasonal items. Pompom Hat

This textured hat is very easy to make and perfect project to practice the fpdc (front post double crochet) and bpdc (back post double crochet). Adding pompoms make it looks more adorable! This can be easily adjust too to bigger size, by simply making the starting chains longer, using thicker yarn and/or bigger crochet hooks. For this project I used the Anne Geddes Baby Yarn of the Red Heart Yarn. This yarn is very soft and light weight. I highly recommended this yarn for all baby stuffs. Thanks to Red Heart for sponsoring the yarn for this project.
